Investors On Britain

Twice as many senior business executives see the UK as an attractive place to invest, than see it as unattractive, according to new research by MORI. The survey, commissioned by the CBI, shows more than half (54%) feel positive as opposed to a quarter (24%) who feel negative. However, two thirds (66%) say the UK has become less attractive as a place to invest/do business than five years ago, and more than half (58%) expect this trend to continue.

However, two thirds (66%) say the UK has become less attractive as a place to invest/do business than five years ago, and more than half (58%) expect this trend to continue.

As far as the Government is concerned, two thirds (66%) say it is less business friendly than five years ago, and three in five (60%) expect it to get worse. Most (70%) say the Government poorly or partially understands how business works, with three in 10 (30%) saying it moderately or strongly understands.

Technical details

MORI conducted 256 telephone interviews with senior executives from CBI member companies in the UK. Fieldwork 18 to 30 October 2002.
