It's Official - One In Six Women Don't Have Enough Time For Themselves

A recent survey by MORI in to women's me-time, revealed that even with all the gadgets and gizmos to make life easier and more relaxing, nearly 60% of women aged 20 - 40 years complained they still didn't have enough 'personal time' to indulge and pamper themselves.

A recent survey by MORI in to women's me-time*, revealed that even with all the gadgets and gizmos to make life easier and more relaxing, nearly 60% of women aged 20 - 40 years complained they still didn't have enough 'personal time' to indulge and pamper themselves.

The survey, commissioned by Cadbury's Fresh Cream Cakes, revealed that when women do find some time to themselves their primary indulgence is going out with friends, perhaps for a special treat. Treating ourselves is an important aspect of any women's life (but don't tell the guys!) and one in five would spend their time indulging themselves with something delicious to eat - well we all know a little of what you fancy does you good!

Because they are not eaten every day, and are at a slight premium over other 'treats' like biscuits, cream cakes have become one of life's little luxuries. But although other research shows that women buy them with the intention of sharing, like Greta Garbo, what women really want when they devour their fresh cream cakes is 'to be alone', so they don't have to give them to anyone else! A substantial four in ten women wouldn't share them even with a partner. A bit mean as there are two in every box!

While six out of ten say they would like to eat their Cadbury's Fresh Cream Cakes in the privacy of their own homes, some women knew these irresistible treats wouldn't even make it out of the supermarket car park!

* 'Me-time' is determined as time spent doing things that you want to do, just for you, rather than things for other people, work etc

Technical details

MORI interviewed a representative quota sample of 1,136 women aged 15+ including 464 women in the 20-40 age range, face-to-face between 8-13 June 2000.
