National Museums Scotland 2010

National Museums of Scotland (NMS) is one of the UK's leading museums services. Ipsos conducted an organisation-wide staff survey.

National Museums of Scotland (NMS) is one of the UK’s leading museums services. It operates the National Museum of Scotland, the Museum of Flight, the Museum of Rural Life, the Museum of Costume and the National War Museum.

National Museums aspires to be “a world class museums service that informs, educates and inspires”, and sets out its mission to “preserve, interpret and make accessible for all, the past and present of Scotland, of other nations and cultures, and of the natural world”.

A major redevelopment and modernisation programme is currently being implemented across the organisation, including a £47 million redevelopment of the Royal Museum. This investment will create new displays, enhance learning and public facilities and provide high quality visitor experiences. In the context of the redevelopment programme, NMS commissioned a series of staff surveys to provide information to inform the development of their Human Resources Strategy and National Museums Strategic Plan, and track staff attitudes over time.

In 2010, Ipsos conducted the third National Museums Scotland Staff Survey after successful projects in 2005 and 2007.
