Ipsos was commissioned by the Carnegie UK Trust to research the reasons for digital exclusion in Glasgow. The first element of the study examined data from the Scottish Household Survey in order to build a profile of non-internet users in the city. Building on this, primary research was conducted to provide a better understanding of the relative influence that attitudinal and behavioural factors have on internet access. In order to allow an in-depth exploration of issues and to ensure that we reached enough respondents to enable a degree of quantitative analysis, the research was conducted using a ‘hall-test’ approach. Ipsos interviewed 200 participants in total – 50 in each of 4 locations in Glasgow.
