The UK Social Research Institute reviews the state of the nation in 2018, drawing on key trends and developments that have touched the nation from Brexit to the NHS.

The Ipsos Issues Index for November 2018 shows sixty-two per cent of Britons see the EU and Brexit as one of the biggest issues for Britain, while concern about crime has risen by ten points since last month.

Brexit continues to dominate the concerns of the British public. For the second month in a row close to six in ten have mentioned the European Union and Brexit as one of the biggest issues facing the country.

Half now see Brexit as the single biggest issue for the country – the highest score for any single issue since the economy in 2011

Scots are more likely than their neighbours to see Brexit as one of the most important issues facing the country.

This month’s Issues Index shows public concern about Britain and Europe remaining at the same record level measured in July.

The July 2018 Issues Index reveals that public concern about Britain and Europe has hit previously unrecorded levels.

Just under half of the British public name either Brexit or the NHS as a big issue for Britain, while one in five mention crime or immigration.
