Majority Believe Homeless Are Victims Of Circumstance

Washington, DC -- A recent Associated Press/Ipsos-Public Affairs poll finds that nine in ten Americans consider homelessness to be a serious problem in the U.S. today. A majority (56%) believe that long-term homelessness is caused by circumstances beyond individuals' control; about four in ten (38%) disagree and say the homeless are responsible for their situation.
