Cancer screening options are important to older adults
Adults ages 50-75 want their healthcare provider to make them aware of Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) tests so they can take action
New York, NY and Menlo Park, CA, April 07, 2025 — A recent survey, conducted by Ipsos among U.S. adults ages 50-75, explored attitudes toward cancer screenings. The survey, conducted on behalf of GRAIL, shows there is a broad desire among adults ages 50-75 to learn more about cancer screening options from their healthcare provider. As a majority of individuals surveyed think early detection is important, most expect their providers to offer the latest cancer screening technologies, regardless of perceptions of patient affordability.
For U.S. adults ages 50-75 surveyed, key findings* include:
- 9 out of 10 would want to know if they have cancer as early as possible so they could take action.
- Nearly 8 out of 10 expect their healthcare providers to offer the latest cancer screening technologies, regardless of perceived ability to pay.
- Nearly 9 out of 10 would want their healthcare provider to make them aware of Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) tests.
- 8 out of 10 believe the Galleri test is on the forefront of the latest cancer screening technologies.
The study also looked at subsets of this audience, including those who had a family history of cancer or were cancer survivors. These audiences had even higher expectations (81-88%, respectively) for their HCP “to offer the latest cancer screening technologies, regardless of whether they believe I am able to pay for them.”
*Findings are based on the percentage of respondents selecting “somewhat agree” or “strongly agree” with each statement.
