The End of Idealism: Younger Americans and Foreign Policy
The public opinion data is very clear. Younger Americans--Gen Z and Millennials--are only lukewarm when it comes to America's present foreign policy entanglements--Israel and Ukraine.
A deeper dive shows they are also less likely to see America as that shinning light on a hill. America to younger Americans is less than exceptional. This is profound. What does this mean for American foreign policy? Can we expect a more inward looking America? Or just one that looks at the world differently? What does this mean more generally about service? The military, for instance, is increasingly having problems with recruitment. Is there a link?
Join us/access recording as we touch on all these topics, and more. In the meantime, see our recent opinion piece in The Hill that lays out some of the groundwork.
