Ipsos/Reuters Poll: Veepstakes

Washington, D.C. - These are findings from an Ipsos poll conducted for Thomson Reuters from April 27th - May 3rd, 2012. A summary of the findings are listed below:
  • Favorability Is somewhat tied to name recognition, you have to be known to be liked, but then so is unfavorability.
    • Rick Santorum has parleyed his campaign into strong name recognition, however, he is also the most polarizing figure we tested.
    • Former Governors Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush also have significant name recognition.
    • Among our current office holders, Gov. Chris Cristie, Sen. Rand Paul and Congressman Paul Ryan have the best name recognition.
  • Santorum's edge in name recognition helps him have a slight edge on the VP pick among all voters.
    • However, among Republicans only, Marco Rubio is equally valued, followed by Christie, Huckabee and Bush.
    • Among Tea Party supporters, Senator Rubio is a clear favorite, followed by Santorum with the others falling back into the pack.
