The economy continues to be the most important issue for Americans according to this week's Core Political

Washington, DC, November 10, 2021 – The latest Core Political survey shows that Americans continue to be split on the main issues facing the nation, with the economy and jobs, as the most important issue, followed by the health care system and immigration. President Joe Biden continues to have the support of his party, but just under half of Americans approve of how he is handling his job.


Detailed Findings

The economy and jobs is viewed by one in five Americans as the most important issue facing the country. This is followed by one in ten who view either the health care system (11%), immigration (10%), public health and disease, (9%) and the environment (9%) as the most important issues.

A quarter of Republicans view the economy and jobs as the most important issue (27%), followed by 21% who feel it is immigration. Democrats are split between the economy and jobs (18%), the health care system (17%), the environment and climate (14%), and public health and disease (13%) as the most important problems facing the country. Independents are concerned with the economy and jobs (27%), health care (14%), and immigration (12%).

Forty-six percent of Americans approve of Biden’s performance as president.

Biden Approval

Democrats continue to approve of how Biden is handling his position as president (77%). On the other hand, just one in ten Republicans approve of Biden (12%). Just under half of independents (44%) approve of Biden’s job performance.
