How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected HIV patient caseload, patient management and treatment management?
How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected HIV patient caseload, patient management and treatment management?
From March to December 2020, Ipsos ran multiple waves of our HIV COVID-19 Impact Study among HIV-treating physicians in the US.
We have created an infographic of our top-line findings, which are as follows:
- At the beginning of the pandemic, participating physicians reported that their HIV patient load had decreased and that they expected the decrease to continue in the coming weeks.
- A month later, a quarter of physicians were uncertain of what the coming weeks held while almost half expected no change.
- As summer set in, so did positivity, with fewer HIV patients cancelling appointments and almost a third of physicians expecting their caseload to increase.
- At the end of the year, a final pulse revealed another decrease in HIV patient caseloads and a return to uncertainty.
- With the approval of several vaccines and the relaxation of state restrictions, the future impact of COVID-19 on HIV patients remains to be seen.
