Taking Responsibility - Ipsos Foundation's Action in South Africa
Ipsos is committed to educational access through its Foundation to create social impact where it is located. Its mission is to carry out educational programmes for underprivileged children and adolescents in the world.
If you can’t feed a hundred people then feed just one
The latest University of Cape Town report reveals three out of four children go hungry in South Africa every day because 30% of the population live in poverty with food insecurity. At school these hungry children are unable to concentrate. Whilst hunger gnaws at them, they can’t think about anything else, or else they simply don’t attend school at all. Working on the premise that ‘you can’t teach a hungry child’ the Peninsula Schools Feeding Association (PSFA) provides two healthy meal a day, thereby helping to ensure that children stay in school and are better able to learn.
The PSFA is an NPO dedicated to providing disadvantaged children in schools with a healthy breakfast and lunch every day of the school year. The Ipsos Foundation is pleased to be donating to PSFA which will allow them to feed a whole primary school for one school year. This will provide 1200 disadvantaged children with two meals a day.
As a result of an award the charity provides feedback to the Trustee Board on how the monies have been used and we are delighted to share with you the feedback from Peninsula School Feeding Association .
“The donation from the Ipsos Foundation will enable Peninsula School Feeding Association to provide a total of 1,155 underprivileged learners on our feeding programme at Gateway Primary School and Aberdare Primary School with a daily nutritious breakfast and lunch. The Ipsos Foundation’s financial support will positively assist these children in many important ways – reduce their short term hunger; increase their attendance and performance at school; enhance their ability to learn; build their immune systems and increase their energy resulting in improved concentration in the classroom. 100% of your donation will go towards feeding hungry school children. A big thank you for the support of our feeding programme.”
