39% of adults aged 18+ appear to be aware that it is possible for a person to reduce their risk of developing dementia
In April 2025, Alzheimer’s Research UK partnered with Ipsos to carry out the fourth wave of the Dementia Attitudes Monitor, reaching over 2,300 adults across the UK through a comprehensive telephone survey. The Monitor provides an opportunity for detailed analysis of perceptions and beliefs regarding dementia, also examining the public’s views around participation in dementia research. The full results are available for download in the PDF on this page.
Technical note:
On behalf of Alzheimer’s Research UK, Ipsos surveyed a nationally representative quota sample of 2,333 adults in the United Kingdom aged 18+, using its telephone omnibus survey between 2nd and 29th April 2025. There was also an ethnic minority boost within this, resulting in a total sample of 559 adults from an ethnic minority background. The survey data has been weighted to the known national population proportions of this audience for age within gender, government office region within gender, working status, ethnicity, and social grade.
