Cleveland Police Force Mergers Survey

Ipsos are aware of comments made by the Chief Constables of Durham and Northumbria Police about this survey.

We have asked them for details in order for us to further investigate these unsubstantiated allegations. We are still awaiting a response.

Please see this briefing note about the survey.

Ipsos interviewed 4,798 residents in the North East on behalf of Cleveland Police Authority. The survey gauges awareness of and attitudes towards the structure of policing in the region.

  • Data is based on 4,798 interviews with residents aged 16+ in the North East.
  • Fieldwork took place between the 7th and 23rd April 2006.
  • Results are weighted by local authority area, age and gender (within authority area) to the known population profile of residents aged 16+.
  • Where results do not sum to 100, this is due to computer rounding or multiple responses or the exclusion of don't knows or non-responses.
  • An asterisk (*) indicates a finding of less than 0.5%, but greater than zero.
  • Results are based on all respondents unless otherwise stated.
