Crime And Young People

Young people are more likely to say they have been the victim of a crime in the past 12 months than the rest of the British public, according to research from MORI. The survey, for The Sun, shows half (52%) of people aged 15-17 say they have been the victim of any crime in the past year, compared with two in five (40%) people aged 18-24 and less than a third (30%) of all people aged 16+.

One in 10 (11%) of 15-17 year olds say they have had a mobile phone stolen in the past 12 months, compared with seven per cent of 18-24 year olds and four per cent of all people 16+. When asked if they have been hit or assaulted (including by relatives, friends or acquaintances) in the past year, 14% of 15-17 year olds say they have, compared with eight per cent of 18-24 year olds and four per cent of all people aged 16
