Which public figures do Britons think deserve a place on Santa's naughty list?

Ipsos today released the findings of its annual naughty and nice List poll, revealing which public figures Britons believe have earned a place on Santa’s coveted nice list or the dreaded naughty list for 2024. 

Naughty list

  • Donald Trump is top of the naughty list (42%), followed by Elon Musk (33%) and Nigel Farage (31%).  
  • They are followed by Rishi Sunak (30%) and Keir Starmer (29%), alongside media personality Piers Morgan (24%).
Santa's 'naughty list': Top 6

Nice list

  • NHS staff secured the top spot on the nice list with a resounding 37%, followed by Catherine, Princess of Wales (33%), and Prince William, Prince of Wales (27%). 
  • The Great Britain Olympic team (24%), along with Alan Bates and the postmasters (23%), and Dame Judi Dench (21%) round out the top six.

Political divides

  • Labour voters place Donald Trump (54%), Nigel Farage (48%), and Elon Musk (44%) firmly on the Naughty List, while reserving spots on the nice List for NHS staff (47%), Catherine, Princess of Wales (34%), and the GB Olympic Team (32%).
  • Conservative voters see Keir Starmer (49%), Donald Trump (33%), and trade unions (23%) as deserving of coal in their stockings. Their nice List is topped by Catherine, Princess of Wales (52%), Prince William (48%), and NHS staff (33%).
  • Just over half (52%) of Reform UK voters place Keir Starmer at the top of their naughty list, followed by Rishi Sunak (31%) and trade unions (29%). Catherine, Princess of Wales (37%), Prince William (34%), and NHS staff (30%) are top of their nice list. 
  • Donald Trump (51%), Elon Musk (43%), and Nigel Farage (41%) are at the top of the naughty list for Liberal Democrat voters. Conversely, they see NHS staff (44%), Catherine, Princess of Wales (41%), and Prince William (38%) as most deserving of presents from Santa and his reindeer.

Technical note

  • Ipsos interviewed a representative sample of 1,100 online British adults aged 18-75. Interviews were conducted between 29th-30th November 2024.  
  • Data are weighted to match the profile of the population. All polls are subject to a wide range of potential sources of error.
