Alcohol education charity Drinkaware has published the findings from a recent Ipsos study of adults’ and children’s drinking behaviour and their attitudes towards alcohol.

Findings from Ipsos’s research into the impact of the 2013 Drinkaware parents campaign (aimed at getting parents to engage with their children on the subject of alcohol) are also available to view on Drinkaware’s website.

Technical details

In 2013. research into adults’ and children’s drinking behaviour was conducted via an online survey of adults and children within four key demographic groups:

  • Parents (1,003) and children aged 10 to 17 (754). Of the children surveyed, 672 had parents who also took part in the research;
  • Adults aged 18-24 (748);
  • Adults aged 25-44 (757); and
  • Adults aged 45-65 (782).

Fieldwork dates were as follows:

  • Parents of children aged 10-17, and children aged 10-17, from 19 November to 12 December 2013.
  • Young adults aged 18-24, from 29 October to 11 November 2013.
  • All other adults, from 19 November 2013 to 12 December 2013.

The data were weighted by age, gender, region and social grade to reflect the known offline population profiles
