Edinburgh Residents Love The Bus

Three-quarters of Edinburgh residents regularly use Lothian Buses' services for journeys around Edinburgh, whereas around half use a car. People are as likely to use the buses across age and income groups.
Furthermore, the vast majority are positive about Lothian Buses' services. Over three-quarters of Edinburgh residents (and over four in five Lothian Buses users) rate the services as 'good' -- one in ten go as far as to say they are 'excellent'.
By contract, only one in ten residents regard services to be poor. The main criticisms are the need for the correct change, uncertainty over when the buses run, and a feeling that buses don't run at convenient times. The main suggestions residents agree would most likely encourage them to use Lothian Buses more frequently are to give change buses, and provide more information at bus stops and stricter control over unruly behaviour.

- Fieldwork conducted between 27 September and 23 October 2004
