Britons trust Celebrity Traitors contestants more than politicians in head to heads

New Ipsos polling shows the British public are more likely to pick contestants over politicians as being more trustworthy when asked in direct head-to-heads.

Britons are more likely to trust stars associated with The Celebrity Traitors than a range of prominent politicians, according to new Ipsos polling conducted ahead of the launch of the programme.
When presented with a list of hypothetical head to heads between politicians and people associated with The Celebrity Traitors, those linked to Celebrity Traitors are considered more trustworthy:

  • Claudia Winkleman 41% vs Andy Burnham 24%
  • Michael Sheen 52% vs Nigel Farage 14%
  • Rob Beckett 44% vs Kemi Badenoch 17%
  • Romesh Ranganathan 50% vs Wes Streeting 8%
  • Ross Kemp 50% vs Ed Miliband 13%
  • Richard E. Grant 49% vs Zack Polanski 12%

Who’s the favourite to win? 
In terms of how regular Traitors viewers think the different contestants will do:

  • 10% think Michael Sheen is most likely to win, followed by Romesh Ranganathan (9%), and Richard E. Grant (8%).
  • 12% think Rob Beckett is most likely to be worst at the game, followed by Jerry Hall (9%) and Joe Lycett (8%). 
  • 9% think Ross Kemp and Richard E. Grant would be the best Traitor.

Some contestants are more recognisable than others: Out of the list of contestants, Britons are most aware of James Blunt (75%), Ross Kemp (75%), Miranda Hart (70%), Romesh Ranganathan (68%), and Richard E. Grant (65%).

  • Ipsos interviewed a representative sample of 1,079 adults aged 18-75 across Great Britain. Polling was conducted online between the 25-30 September 2026.
