Oasis vs Taylor Swift

Whilst 2024 has been the summer of Taylor Swift with her Eras tour dominating the British music scene, Oasis are due to be headline attraction next year. However despite her sparkling summer, when asked who they prefer, Britons are more likely to say they prefer Oasis (39%) to Taylor Swift (26%). One in three say neither.

However there are some differences by age – with those aged under 35 preferring Taylor Swift but older Britons preferring Oasis.

Fans concerned about access to Oasis tickets

83% of Oasis fans say they are excited about the reunion but many are concerned about their ability to get tickets – and the ability of other Oasis fans.  57% are concerned about their own ability to get tickets and two-thirds (66%) are concerned about the ability of Oasis fans in general to get tickets.

When asked how much they would be prepared to pay for a standard ticket next year, one in five Oasis fans say they would more than £200. Though a majority would pay between £50 and £200.

Favourite Oasis album

Elsewhere in the poll, Oasis fans were asked what their favourite album by the band was, with fans split between (What’s the Story) Morning Glory and Definitely Maybe.

Ipsos Research Director Keiran Pedley said of the findings:

Whilst Taylor Swift will surely shake off her disappointment in these results, Oasis fans fear they will be crying their hearts out if they miss out on tickets this weekend. Excitement is building but two-thirds of Oasis fans are worried about access to tickets. Meanwhile, when it comes to the age old debate about which Oasis album is best, fans can't decide.

Technical note

Ipsos interviewed a representative sample of 1,310 aged 18-75 across Great Britain. Polling was conducted online between 27-28 August 2024.  508 respondents were self described fans of the band Oasis. Data are weighted to match the profile of the population. All polls are subject to a wide range of potential sources of error.
