One in Three Youngsters Know Criminal Drug Addicts

One in three youngsters know people who have committed crimes in order to buy drugs, and this rises to more than half among unemployed young people. Over half also believe that the drugs problem in their area has worsened in the last two years.
Much crime is perceived to be drug related. Three quarters of the young people surveyed think this is the case rising to 90% among the unemployed.

MORI interviewed a nationally representative sample of 271 15-24 year olds across the country. Fieldwork dates 21st-24th February 1997.
