Political Communication in Britain

This book by authors including Ipsos polling experts, offers a unique exploration of the 2015 General Election from the perspectives of those most intimately involved as strategists, journalists and analysts.

Political Communication in Britain provides a series of eyewitness accounts from the people involved in the campaign.

This was the political event which set the scene for the EU Referendum. Few people expected to see the Conservatives win an outright majority. But David Cameron’s victory set the wheels in motion for the historic Brexit vote which took place just over a year later.

The book includes first-hand perspectives from pollsters, journalists and party campaigners – each providing their own insights on their experiences of the campaign, including the lessons learned. It features contributions from the broadcasters and regulators, as well as detailed analysis of the media landscape, from print to online, including chapters devoted specifically to social media.

This new publication is the latest installment of a long-running series which has been running since 1979.

Read more about the post-election conference, organised by Loughborough University, the Political Studies Association and Ipsos, which saw many of the contributors talking about their experiences first hand:
