SUMMARY (extract from Band & Brown's Press Release - 2nd July, 1998):

Single women change their men four times more often than they buy a new duvet, according to new research released today. The findings show the fairer sex relishing a "laddish" lifestyle in which housework comes a very poor second to having fun.

The study commissioned by DuPont, the world's leading manufacturer of quality fibre fillings for duvets and pillows, reveals an new breed of "Lad-ette" who spends her weekend wallowing under the duvet, is allergic to housework, swills beer from a pint glass and has no qualms about dating several men at the same time.

Far from waiting for Mr Right to call, single women in Britain have a no-holds-barred approach when it comes to meeting men. Nearly one-third - 30% per cent - has two-timed their man while nearly half - 45% - admit to going out in groups to hunt for men. Once out on the town, two-thirds (some 67 per cent) drink beer, lager or spirits while 63 per cent are happy swilling beer from a pint glass.

But women today have more than just men on their minds. The DuPont study shows that far from feeling left on the shelf, single women relish their independence. Some 89 per cent believe there's far less pressure on them to settle down and enjoy the freedom to come and go as they please.

The DuPont study also shows that the majority of single women in Britain are happy adopting many of men's dirtier habits. More than two-thirds - 67 per cent - say they iron clothes when they need to wear them while more than one in three - 42% - often need to wash a dirty cup or glass because they've run out of clean ones.

Single women are also unashamedly indulgent when it comes to bedroom comfort even though they don't share a bed and the research shows that more than one in ten single women will treat themselves to a lie in of at least four hours on Sunday mornings.
