Public thinks that Farage is most likely to embarrass himself at office Christmas party while Badenoch is the dancing queen, Ipsos poll reveals

32% of respondents believe Nigel Farage would be the most likely to embarrass themselves at the office Christmas bash.

As the holidays approach, Ipsos Omnibus surveyed 1,028 adults across Great Britain to uncover how the public thinks that political leaders would behave at the annual office Christmas party.

Key findings

  • Embarrassment expected: 32% of respondents believe Nigel Farage would be the most likely to embarrass themselves at the office Christmas bash. Close contenders include Prime Minister Keir Starmer (20%) and Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey (14%).
  • Reform voters think Keir Starmer is most likely to embarrass himself (43%), followed by Ed Davey (25%). But supporters of all other parties think Nigel Farage.
  • Festive hangovers: Similarly, a third (33%) say that Farage is also most likely to have a hangover, again followed by Starmer on 13%.
  • Tacky knits or fashion hits: Meanwhile, when it comes to who would wear the tackiest Christmas jumper, Farage again leads the pack with a whopping 31%, closely trailed by Ed Davey at 19%.
  • Best secret Santa: It’s not all bad news for the Reform UK leader though - Farage is also seen as the favourite Secret Santa (19%), again followed by Davey on 15%.
  • Party lines: Reform voters are most likely to say Nigel Farage would be the best secret Santa, Lib Dems say Ed Davey and Conservatives are split between Nigel Farage and Kemi Badenoch. However, Labour voters are more likely to think Ed Davey (17%), Zack Polanski (14%) and Nigel Farage (14%) would be a better secret Santa than their own leader Keir Starmer (10%).
  • Farage and Davey are the karaoke kings: The public thinks that Farage (24%) and Davey (23%) would be the first to hit the mics and partake in a bit of office karaoke. Supporters of all parties put them in the top two.
  • But Badenoch is the dancing queen: However, the public thinks that Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch (14%) is most likely to have moves that dominate the dance floor, with Farage and Davey close behind (13% each).
  • Reform voters are adamant that their leader Nigel Farage would be a better dancer than Kemi Badenoch (34% to 15%). But Labour voters are more likely to think Badenoch would be a better dancer than Keir Starmer (11% to 7%). Though they prefer Polanski (17%) and Ed Davey (16%).

Speaking about the results, senior Politics Researcher Holly Day said:

Although questions like these are a bit of fun, they do shed light on how the public view our leading politicians today. Nigel Farage divides opinion, with Reform voters very positive but supporters of other parties less so. Meanwhile, most of the politicians on our list are seen as having more personality than Keir Starmer, reflecting his poor personal poll ratings at this present time.
