Qualitative research exploring experiences and perceptions of unbundled legal services

Ipsos conducted 55 in-depth interviews with those using legal services, the providers of those services and judges to explore unbundled legal services for civil, family and immigration law matters.
Ipsos was commissioned by the Legal Services Consumer Panel and the Legal Services Board to undertake a qualitative study of unbundled legal services. Consisting of 55 qualitative interviews with consumers, providers and judges, the research focused on understanding the impact of unbundled legal services within civil, family and immigration law. Unbundling’ separates a package of legal services into parts, and the consumer and legal services providers agree to what parts of the package the provider will provide. The study looked at circumstances where service delivery had been formally organised and negotiated as constituting unbundled services, rather than more ad hoc arrangements. The research also focused on paid-for services; unbundled provision in the advice/third sector was excluded from scope.
