Four in five (79%) British adults are aware that cholesterol is a type of fat that circulates in the bloodstream, according to research from MORI. The project, commissioned by Flora, also shows that some people wrongly think that it is a form of heart disease, or a description of being overweight (nine per cent and six per cent respectively).
New MORI research conducted for BUPA suggests that the general public and GPs welcome more healthcare choices to be given to NHS patients. The desired choices range from more provision of information, to being involved in the choice of a surgeon to perform an operation. The public lends most support to patients being able to choose in which hospital to have an operation (or being more involved in this choice), whereas GPs are most supportive of patients being provided with more information about their treatment.
NHS chief executives are generally supportive of the idea of Foundation Status Hospitals, according to new research from MORI Social Research Institute. The research, commissioned by the NHS Confederation for its annual conference, was among 102 Chief Executive across a range of NHS Trusts, Primary Care Trusts and Strategic Health Authorities.
One in five British people (20%) say they experience stress on a daily basis and feel the emotional consequences are severe. Nearly half who have ever felt stressed have felt depressed or down (45%), a quarter of people (24%) have felt isolated by it, and one in eight (13%) believing they have nowhere to turn.
