Transforming the UK Energy System

A survey for Cardiff University exploring attitudes towards climate change, energy efficiency, energy systems and the acceptability of a number of energy and heating behaviours.

Ipsos conducted this survey for Cardiff University exploring attitudes towards climate change, energy efficiency, energy systems and the acceptability of a number of energy and heating behaviours. It involved a nationally representative survey of the online population (n = 2,441 using Ipsos’s online panel) to explore British public values and attitudes towards climate change and energy choices and acceptability of whole energy system change.

Half-way through the survey respondents were directed to the My2050 tool where they created an ‘energy future’ designed to meet the 2050 CO2 targets, before returning to complete the remainder of the survey. The results were analysed to understand how different framings influence survey responses.
