Two thirds (67%) of UK adults 16-75 think the number of people coming into the UK is high (too high/ a bit too high)
Over half (52%) belonging to an ethnic minority group think the number of people coming into the UK is high (too high/a bit too high).
Other findings from the research include:
- 59% say the most tension between certain groups is between people born in UK and immigrants.
- More than four-in-ten (46%) think immigrants have a negative impact on the UK as a whole.
- Nearly 3/4 (73%) say they’re concerned (very/ fairly concerned) about the rise of small boats crossing/irregular/illegal migration.
Technical Note
Ipsos interviewed an overall online sample of 2,451 adults aged 16-75 in Great Britain using its online i:omnibus between 31st Oct- 4th Nov 2025. The sample comprises a nationally representative quota sample of 2231 adults and a further boost of 220 ethnic minority adults. The samples achieved are representative of the populations with interlocking quotas on age within gender, and quotas on region and working status.
Data has been weighted to the known offline population proportions for interlocking cells of gender within age and working status, as well as region, social grade and education, and ethnicity.
All polls are subject to a wide range of potential sources of error.
