2016 US Elections - Clinton Has Converted A Couple Swing States (October 24)
Hillary Clinton is moving into an increasingly strong position in the electoral college with the Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation poll showing her up in states equal to 322 electoral college votes.
General Election Matchup
Hillary Clinton leads in states equaling 322 votes while Donald Trump leads in states equaling 174 electoral college votes with 39 votes up for grabs.
- Clinton has converted a couple swing states into her column with a lead in the swing states of North Carolina, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada and Florida.
- Trump continues to win across the South, but is struggling a bit in the West with Arizona now up for grabs.
- Ohio and Arizona are too close to call this week.

These are findings from an Ipsos poll conducted for Thomson Reuters September 30- October 20, 2016. For the survey, a sample of 29,135 Americans ages 18+ were interviewed online.
Arizona
- Donald Trump has a 7 percentage point lead over Hillary Clinton amongst likely voters in our two-way ballot. When looking at the four-way ballot that includes Gary Johnson and Jill Stein, Trump has a similar lead of 5-percentage points over Clinton amongst likely voters.
- In the Senate race, John McCain has a 10 percentage point lead over his Democratic opponent Ann Kirkpatrick amongst likely voters, with nearly half of likely voters saying that they plan to vote for John McCain (48% vs 38%).
- 44% of Arizonans believe that most or all illegal immigrants should be able to stay in the United States, with some exceptions.
- However, nearly half (46%) of Arizonans (and 51% of likely voters in Arizona) would support building additional fencing across the US-Mexican border.

- Hillary Clinton has a 2 percentage point lead over Donald Trump amongst likely voters. When looking at the four-way ballot that includes Gary Johnson and Jill Stein, Clinton’s lead widens to 4-percentage points amongst likely voters.
- In the Senate race, former presidential hopeful Marco Rubio has a 2 percentage point lead over his Democratic opponent Patrick Murphy amongst likely voters (40% to 38%).
- When asked to choose between two competing statements, Floridians are exactly evenly divided in their attitudes towards the role of immigrants in American society: 50% believe immigrants strengthen it, and 50% that they threaten traditional American beliefs and customs
- Three in five (61%) Floridians believe that the United States should establish normal diplomatic relations with Cuba
