Inspiring Women 2016

Ipsos in Ecuador sponsored an event on the presence of women in executive roles in the country. Organised with the Chamber of Commerce , the conference was attended by 700 representatives from the country's largest corporations.

Cristina Paez, Research Director with Ipsos ( pictured ), presented the results of a survey funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (BID). Other members of the panel included the Head of Women Empowerment in the country and CEO of great companies in Ecuador.

The event generated strong nation-wide media interest as the research pointed out an alarming situation:

  • 90% of the general management positions are held by males.
  • Only 35% of the businesses have policies of inclusion of women at top levels.
  • Only 26% of managers in the country are female.
  • 10% of business directories have no women members.

Cristina says: " We still have much work to do but at least we now have the hard data to raise awareness and develop projects that will help change these numbers in the near future ."
