The risk of being transgender in Colombia
According to figures from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), the life expectancy for transgender people in the Americas - that is, in all countries included in the Americas - is 35 years. This information, although it is an estimate, is close to the average age of fatalities reported by human rights organizations in Colombia, including Colombia Diversa and the Santamaría Foundation in el Valle.
