Taking Responsibility - Books are About More Than Just Reading
Ipsos is committed to educational access through its Foundation to create social impact where it is located. Its mission is to carry out educational programmes for underprivileged children and adolescents in the world.
Book Clubs in Schools (BCiS) run book clubs in secondary schools in disadvantaged areas in the UK. The club sessions are led by older pupils (Yrs 10 and 12) for younger pupils (Yr 7) and are designed to inspire a lifelong love of reading and critical thinking. Book club leaders develop leadership and organisation skills and learn about responsibility and volunteering whilst the younger pupils are encouraged to read for pleasure, widening their horizons and increasing confidence.
The Ipsos Foundation has provided in funding to help BCiS expand their programme to an additional 15 disadvantaged schools. BCiS works with the schools to track academic results and the benefits of the book clubs.
