Conducted on behalf of CNN Turk TV, Ipsos’ CATI survey across 81 provinces analysed how voters made their decisions, revealed the shift in political party preferences, and evaluated voters views on alternative post-election scenarios.
Vural Çakır, Chairman of Ipsos in Turkey was on CNN in prime time on the election day as part of a special broadcast gathering academics and journalists to discuss the outcome of the elections.
The survey revealed that:
- 80% of voters made their decision more than two months ahead of the election.
- 14% admitted their vote was more a rejection of the rival party rather than a vote of support.
- The political program generally played the primary role in their decision, followed by the Party.
- 50% said party leader broadcasts helped them make up their minds.
