Are We All Turning Green?
Two out of five people in Great Britain say they are doing something to tackle climate change, according to a recent poll Ipsos for the Environment Agency.
The poll was a precursor to the Environment Agency's campaign for World Environment Day on 5 June 2007. Under this campaign the Environment Agency asked the public what the number one thing is they are doing to tackle climate change, what extra they could do, and what is preventing them from doing this. These questions were placed on the website www.mendoftheworld.org.
The survey, completed on our face-to-face omnibus, showed that 41% of people are doing something to reduce their carbon footprint. Over half of those who claimed to be taking action pointed to recycling their household waste as the single most effective action they are taking to tackle climate change.
Further details of the Environment Agency's campaign can be found on www.mendoftheworld.org. For further information on the Ipsos poll please contact Ed Langley on 020 7347 3154 or Greg Brina at the Environment Agency on 01454 205 741.
Technical details
Ipsos interviewed 2,130 interviews face-to-face in respondent's homes between 9-29 March 2007. (This included 120 additional interviews in Wales to ensure robust coverage of the country). 163 sampling points were covered, and the final results are weighted to reflect the actual demographic profile of the GB population, and to ensure that the interviews with Welsh respondents have the correct representation within the GB-wide data.
