Are we prepared for an ageing society?
Age UK and Ipsos have produced a report that examines what the general public, as well as delegates at the recent party conferences, feel about the entitlements that older people currently receive.
In light of the forthcoming Comprehensive Spending Review promising to make significant public spending cuts across the board, Age UK and Ipsos have produced this report to uncover what the general public and conference delegates at the Liberal Democrat, Labour and Conservative Party Conferences feel about the entitlements that older people currently receive.
Using data from a nationally representative survey of the general public, and polling conducted among delegates at the Age UK fringe events for all three parties, this report explores what the public and delegates feel are the most important entitlements to save from cuts, those which they think should not be protected from cuts, as well as attitudes towards broader themes such as the universality of benefits and means-testing.
