Behaviour in Schools Research
The results from the 2012 sweep of Behaviour in Schools research, commissioned by the Scottish Government
We were commissioned by the Scottish Government to conduct the 2012 wave of the Behaviour in Scottish Schools Research. The research comprised a robust national survey of headteachers, teachers and support staff, exploring their views of positive and negative behaviour around the school and in the classroom. The survey was complemented by a series of 12 case studies, in both primary and secondary schools, designed to look at issues surrounding behaviour in more depth. In each case study school, we interviewed members of the senior management team and conducted focus groups with teachers, support staff and pupils.
