An Ipsos online survey of 18-75 year olds from 10th-13th April has found that Briton’s confidence continues to grow in the NHS’ ability to cope with those who are ill as a result of Coronavirus. Briton’s level of concern for themselves and the country remains broadly stable over the past two weeks. And whilst people say that they are finding it harder than they did three weeks ago to stay in touch with friends and family, and to keep entertained, some are now starting to find it easier to look after children.

Net confidence in the NHS is now at +58, up from +46 two weeks ago with those not confident down from one quarter to one in five.

Concern about the risks the Coronavirus poses to yourself as an individual has remained broadly similar from two weeks ago at roughly three quarters (75% down from 78% two weeks ago).

Brits remain more concerned about the country as a whole, as they have through the Coronavirus period with a net score of +87, with 93% concerned about the country as a whole, making it almost ubiquitous throughout the British population.

Britons on the whole are finding it slightly less hard to stay positive about the future but as time goes on through the lockdown, they are finding it harder to stay in touch with friends and family and keep entertained.

People are finding it easier to get what they need from the shops than three weeks go just before the enforced lockdown began. However, more people are now finding it harder being able to work as the lockdown continues. Interestingly, now one in eight are saying it is easier to look after their children compared to before the Coronavirus outbreak.

Kelly Beaver, Managing Director of Public Affairs at Ipsos said:

It is encouraging that Britons continue to grow in confidence in the NHS’ ability to cope with the strains being put on it as we move through the stages of the Coronavirus crisis.

As the lockdown continues, we’re beginning to see a rise in the number of people saying it’s harder to stay positive about the future and those finding it harder being able to work. Thankfully though some people are finding it easier to look after their kids now than before the outbreak.
