Fuel Duty and the Election Survey
An Ipsos survey for the RAC Foundation, undertaken 16-22 April 2010, highlights the importance the public attach to fuel duty on petrol and diesel as an election issue despite the considerable attention given to National Insurance in the first week of the campaign.
Our survey asked 1,001 British adults how important each of four different types of taxation will be when it comes to choosing which party to vote for. Three-quarters (74%) said Income tax was very or fairly important. Just under seven in ten said the same of fuel duty (69%), a higher proportion than for VAT (64%) and National Insurance (62%).
Technical Note The results are based on 1,001 face-to-face in-home interviews conducted by Ipsos with adults aged 16+ across England, Scotland and Wales conducted between 16th and 22nd April, Data has been weighted.
