Ipsos Secures Coveted Six Year Contract With BARB
Ipsos MediaCT, one of the leading agencies in media research, is delighted to announce a continuation of its relationship with BARB (a joint company of BBC, ITV, Channel 4, five, BSkyB and the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) for the provision of its Establishment Survey.
The new six year contract will run from 1st January 2010 to survey the characteristics of the television-owning population.
Liz Landy, Managing Director of Ipsos MediaCT, comments: ''We are absolutely delighted to retain our involvement in such a high profile and well respected currency. The Establishment Survey underpins the entire BARB service and we are extremely proud that we have been trusted yet again to undertake this important task''.
As with other aspects of BARB's ongoing audience-measurement service, the Establishment Survey's specification has been upgraded to ensure that it remains at the forefront of research practice. Specifically, the service will be designed around a UK panel rather than overlapping regional panels and will be more representative of the distribution of the population. Owing to these design improvements, statistical benefits will be forthcoming.
Speaking on behalf of the BARB Board, Bjarne Thelin, Chief Executive, said: "The continuous Establishment Survey is a vital part of the BARB service and we are confident that Ipsos can build upon their track record. The survey will be increasingly important to ensure that BARB is aware of changes in the UK population's access to different types of televisual content consumption platform. We expect the new contract framework, and design features to take the already world leading BARB service forward to meet the developing needs of the industry."
