Ipsos is pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted as Pollster of the Year for the Public Affairs News 2010 Awards.

Having the results of the Exit Poll (conducted jointly with GfK NOP) beamed onto Big Ben capped off a successful UK 2010 General Election. Our series of polls in marginal constituencies provided a unique perspective on the key battleground seats, while our final poll for the Evening Standard accurately predicted a 7 point lead for the Conservatives.160The "Worm" at the Prime Ministerial Debates provided a new dimension to the leaders' debates.

Coupled with our polling was our unparalleled presence in the media during the election campaign. A range of commentators from Ipsos appeared over 80 times on every major news outlet including TV, radio and national print.

Our Chief Executive, Ben Page, presented a series of short videos covering the key election issues of interest to the voting public.

Having polled the British public since 1969, Ipsos works for every government department and hundreds of other public sector organisations, providing social research and in-depth policy knowledge, allowing us to put our data into context. We did this regularly throughout the campaign by publishing topical slide packs and commentary articles.

Bobby Duffy, Managing Director of the Ipsos Social Research Institute, said:

"We're delighted to be shortlisted for this key award. Being a successful pollster is not about producing lots of new polls, it's about informing and shaping the political debate in a number of ways. We feel the 2010 election was our most successful, not just because of the accuracy of our polls, but also the range of our activities and impact."
