The public lacks confidence in the ability of local public service organisations to deliver services in today's climate of austerity, but are sympathetic to the challenges, according to recent research we conducted for Zurich Municipal. As councils up and down the country face deep cuts, almost half (48%) of the 998 people polled by Ipsos were not confident in their local public services' ability to respond to challenges they face. However, only a quarter (26%) felt that individuals would be better placed to deliver services themselves.
