Rowland Lloyd Is New MRS Chairman
The Market Research Society (MRS) has elected Ipsos's MD of Operations Rowland Lloyd as its new UK Chairman. He will replace outgoing Chairman Simon Lidington in April.
Rowland has more than 20 years' market research industry experience, having commenced his career in Data Processing with Millward Brown in 1985 and then moved to BMRB as Head of Operations in 1998, before joining Ipsos in 2002. He has previously chaired the MRS Standards Board, is a member of the MRQSA council, and has been particularly involved in issues regarding data protection and the composition of MRS guidelines.
A great deal has happened at the MRS over the past 3 years, with the integration of trade activity (previously undertaken by the BMRA), the consequent growth of the MRS Company Partner Service to include over 270 businesses, and the recognition, of both Council and the Market Research Standards Board (MRSB), that today research covers an increasing range of methods and activities.
Rowland is passionate about the research industry and the need for an excellent Market Research Society with the active engagement of all of us who work in the sector. His vision is to build on the last few years, focusing to improve services. Above all he believes we must maintain the support of the public whose opinions really matter.
Rowland's plans to develop the MRS approach by:
- Engaging clients to a greater extent
- Recognising and maximising the benefit of being part of an international community
- Listening to stakeholders via consultation and MRS Council itself
- Protecting respondents
With members in more than 70 countries, the MRS is the world's largest association serving those involved with market, social and opinion research, business intelligence, market analysis, customer insight and consultancy.
