Scottish Funding Council Stakeholder Survey 2007

In February 2007, the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) commissioned Ipsos to undertake its first survey of the effectiveness of its communications and relations with stakeholders.

In February 2007, the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) commissioned Ipsos to undertake its first survey of the effectiveness of its communications and relations with stakeholders. The survey comprised two elements:

  • a survey of staff in colleges and universities; and160
  • qualitative interviews among representatives of the SFC's main stakeholders bodies.

The research covered a number of topics including familiarity with and favourability towards the SFC; satisfaction with service and support provided by the SFC; perceptions of SFC staff; and priority areas for improvement.

Technical Details

The survey of college and university staff was conducted online and by telephone between 19th June and 16th July 2007. All colleges and universities across Scotland were given the opportunity to take part in the research and a total of 47 agreed to do so, while 16 declined. A total of 2,369 respondents took part in the research: 2,269 online and 100 by telephone. The response rate was 28% overall, rising to 36% among senior management staff. Telephone depth interviews were conducted with 41 of the SFC's key partners and stakeholders between 19th July and 17th August 2007.
