New Ipsos research for the Design Council finds 28% of Britons recall buying a British product or service recently, while manufacturing and the motor industry are seen as a weakness rather than a strength.
Ipsos's new research for the Design Council was commissioned to coincide with the 2012 Design Summit.
This Conference, hosted by the Design Council, will debate how British business can capitalise on distinctive national characteristics to attract inward investment and boost exports.
Speakers include Business Secretary Vince Cable, JCB's Sir Anthony Bamford, Jaguar's Ian Callum, and Ipsos's Ben Page.
Technical note
Ipsos interviewed a representative sample of 1,003 adults aged 15+ between 25-31 May 2012. Fieldwork was conducted face-to-face in-home, across Great Britain.
