The Ipsos Consumer Tracker asks Americans questions about culture, the economy and the forces that shape our lives. Here's one thing we learned this week.

chart showing that a majority of people feel it's important to create experiences for people with disabilities

Why we asked: According to one study, almost all (96%) of digital experiences don’t meet regulatory requirements for accessibility. Ipsos has partnered with CurbCutOS to launch an Accessible UX service to help companies meet the needs of their customers with disabilities. Also, this topic is important and not well understood, as only 36% say they are familiar with the issues people face which can include having enough color contrast to be able to read the content, being able to navigate by keyboard, clear button descriptions, text to describe images and more.

What we found: Despite the overall lack of understanding, a sizeable majority (75%) feel that it’s an important issue for brands to address including 41% who say it’s very important. Only 7% say it’s not at all important. Women, older Americans (55+) and Democrats over-indexed, but again, support was high across the board.
