Washington DC, July 30, 2025 – Bank of America, in cooperation with Burson and Ipsos, is releasing the results from its 2025 Better Money Habits Gen Z Report. The report utilizes data from a poll conducted by Ipsos from April 4-25, 2025. The poll examines how Gen Z Americans feel about various aspects of their finances, including evaluations of their own financial health and their financial outlook over the next year.

The study report can be found here.

About the Study

This Bank of America poll was conducted April 4-25, 2025, by Ipsos using the probability-based KnowledgePanel®. This poll is based on national samples of 1,069 general population adults (age 18 or older), 915 general population Gen Z adults (age 18-28). No respondents were removed from the final data for refusing all of the survey items.

The survey was conducted using KnowledgePanel, the most well-established online probability-based panel that is representative of the adult US population. Our recruitment process employs a scientifically developed addressed-based sampling methodology using the latest Delivery Sequence File of the USPS – a database with full coverage of all delivery points in the US. Households invited to join the panel are randomly selected from all available households in the U.S. Persons in the sampled households are invited to join and participate in the panel. Those selected who do not already have internet access are provided a tablet and internet connection at no cost to the panel member. Those who join the panel and who are selected to participate in a survey are sent a unique password-protected log-in used to complete surveys online. As a result of our recruitment and sampling methodologies, samples from KnowledgePanel cover all households regardless of their phone or internet status and findings can be reported with a margin of sampling error and projected to the general population. KnowledgePanel members receive a per survey incentive, usually the equivalent of $1 (though for some it is $2) in points, that can be redeemed for cash or prizes. Three email reminders were sent to Gen Z adult (age 18-28) respondents. The remainder of the sample received one reminder email.

The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level for results based on the sample of general population adults (age 18 or older). The margin of sampling error takes into account the design effect, which was 1.09 for the sample of general population adults (age 18 or older). The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points at the 95% confidence level for results based on the sample of general population Gen Z adults (age 18-28). The margin of sampling error takes into account the design effect, which was 1.15 for the sample of general population Gen Z adults (age 18-28). The margin of sampling error is higher and varies for results based on sub-samples. Sampling error is only one potential source of error. There may be other unmeasured non-sampling error in this or any poll.

The study was conducted in both English and Spanish. The data for the general population of adults (18 or older) were weighted to adjust for gender by age, race/ethnicity, Census region, metropolitan status, education, household income, language proficiency and Hispanic origin. The demographic benchmarks were obtained from the 2024 Current Population Survey (CPS). The language benchmark were obtained from the 2023 American Community Survey (ACS). The weighting categories were as follows:
