Following one of the most dramatic weeks of his presidency, Trump’s job approval rating has dropped to its lowest point, now at 39% approval. Down from 43% approval last week, more than half of Americans say they disapprove of Donald Trump’s handling of the presidency (55% disapprove). Although he fares better on specific approval attributes, President Trump no longer enjoys 50% or more approval on any specific issue. His highest numbers come from his handling of the US economy (47%), employment and jobs (47%), and dealing with ISIS/ISIL (48%).  As more details emerge about FBI Director James Comey’s firing, it is unsurprisingly that one of President Trump’s lowest approval ratings come from his handling of corruption (39%).

As far as main problems facing the country, healthcare continues to be top of mind for Americans, with nearly a quarter saying it’s the most important problem (21%). Following distantly, the economy (12%) and terrorism (13%) round out the top three concerns. While Democrats are predominantly focused on healthcare (26%), Republican are more likely to cite immigration (12%) as a top concern than either Democrats (4%) or Independents (8%).

These are findings from an Ipsos poll conducted for Thomson Reuters May 12-16, 2017 For the survey, a sample of 1,868 Americans, ages 18+ were interviewed online.
