Block Paving - Paves the Way for Future Demand
A recent MORI survey on behalf of Interpave highlights the resounding public preference for block paved footways and driveways and provides a powerful insight into public attitudes.
The majority of people (90%) think that paving is important to their local environment, but almost half of these describe the condition of paving in their area as poor. Over three quarters think their local authority should be spending more on the upkeep and upgrading of footways. The same proportion still want their local authority to choose, or consider block paving even though the initial cost of block paving can be higher than black top.
Two thirds (65%) of people prefer block paving to any other form of paving, with tarmac emerging as the least preferred material. In fact, five times as many people rank block paving first compared to the other types of paving surveyed - concrete flags, coloured tarmac and black tarmac.
Block paving is also the preferred material (and ranked first), for specific environments: town centres (70%), private driveways and forecourts (61%), domestic pathways and patios (60%) and in the street where people live (32%).
Nearly three quarters (72%) of people say they would choose block paving in future to resurface their driveway, patio or garden path. This could be attributed to the fact that 80% of people preferred block paving due to its appearance.
