Despite the recession, chocolate consumption remains strong in the UK, 9 in 10 Brits eat chocolate and 8 in 10 do so on at least a weekly basis. The challenge for manufacturers lies in increasing consumption occasions among existing users, looking at seasonality and innovation. Increasing health and sustainability concerns will also need to be addressed to meet consumer demand.
