Ipsos was commissioned by Parenting Across Scotland to undertake a national survey of parents. The survey explored parents' experiences and views of a range of parenting issues, such as childcare and family spending.

Parenting across Scotland (PAS) is a multi-agency organisation financed by the Scottish Government with a remit to research the concerns and issues affecting parents and to identify gaps in the support available to parents. To this end, PAS commissioned Ipsos Scotland to undertake a national survey of 1,000 parents. The survey explored parents' experiences and perceptions in relation to a range of issues, including:

  • the support and advice on which they draw in bringing up their children
  • GPs
  • childcare
  • pre-school education
  • relationship strains
  • managing financially
  • additional services and support for parents

This is the fourth such survey Ipsos Scotland has conducted for PAS; previous surveys were commissioned in 2004, 2007 and 2008.160 A summary of the 2010 findings and the160full research report can be accessed on the PAS website.
